Nikah (Islamic marriage)
Our imam, Syed Hadi Hasan, is an authorised marriage officiant (vigselförrättare). A nikah he conducts is therefore also a legal marriage in Sweden. It can be held at the masjid, at home or at a venue of your choice.
The fee is 3,000 kr and is the same for everyone.
How it works
- Book a time. Contact us by phone or email, preferably at least four weeks before.
- Apply for a marriage impediment check (hindersprövning) at Skatteverket. It is free and easiest through the e-service at skatteverket.se. You will receive two documents: Intyg om hindersprövning and Blankett för vigselintyg. The certificate is valid for four months.
- Pay the fee. Pay 3,000 kr to PlusGiro 1254455-7 or Swish 123 671 76 98, with “Nikah” and your names as the message. Send the receipt and the two documents to [email protected] before the nikah.
- On the day. Bring the two documents, ID and two witnesses.
After the nikah, the imam sends the marriage certificate to Skatteverket, which registers the marriage.
